We have Overcome

Our son Robert broke a glass at the dinner table and it went everywhere. What a mess! After we cleaned it all up, he asked a question very matter of fact, “did the devil do that?” Well, that opened the door for some good family discussion, so we took advantage of the moment. We turned to Revelations 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.

Robert asked, “What is the blood of the lamb anyway? Who has a testimony?” I love it when the kids engage enough to ask questions. So we went on to explain that the blood of the lamb is the powerful blood of Jesus that was poured out on the cross. The blood that poured out of Jesus was not just to cover our sins, but to beat the enemy for us. Our testimony is our story and we all have one. No matter our age or experience, we all have a story we can share of what God has done for us. When we start bragging on Jesus, on how he healed you or mended your broken heart or provided for you, we are sharing our story. Our story is our testimony. The devil has already lost in our life. Jesus took care of that! As we remind ourself of the powerful blood of the lamb & share our “Jesus bragging story” our testimony, we overcome the enemy. So at our house, we talk about the blood of Jesus and brag about what He has done in our life. Robert stated that he himself knocked the glass over. He said Jesus already took care of the enemy and he will remind himself of the blood of Jesus and what Jesus has done in his life. I want to encourage you to seize the teaching moments with your children and others. To pray and believe that the enemy is defeated and you are an overcomer. We can live a victorious life as we believe.
