Authority, Who Has It?

Sam and I have two boys-James 16 & Robert 13.  After an exciting basketball game, as we were driving home, Sam had to pull over so James could throw up (you know vomit). When we got home, James was running a very high temp. and threw up some more. During the middle of the night, Robert came into our bedrm and threw up all over our bed, all over our bathroom, it was a terrible mess. Both boys were sick the whole week and missed school. No fun for anyone!

That night, I had a dream: James and I were in a classroom full of kids. James raised his hand and said, “I feel like something is on my back.” He asked if he could take his shirt off. When he did, I looked on his back and saw the biggest bug I’ve ever seen. It was the size of my hand with many legs. Yuk! Though I was frightened, without even thinking, I grabbed James shirt and went after that bug, swatting it, chasing it outside where it was muddy. That ugly bug went down a hole and the whole time I was chasing it, I yelled, “Get out of here bug, leave my son alone, leave my family alone, go back to hell where you belong! In Jesus Name.”

That dream was so real! I awoke and went to James and Robert’s room.  I checked them both, they were drenched, their bed was wet, their fever was broke. I layed hands on them, prayed over them and the very next day, they were fever free. That dream reminded me, that we have authority over sickness, disease, sin, dysunction, generational curses, whatever it is that ails us.  Jesus gave us the authority, when He died on the cross, rose from the dead, made a spectical of the enemy and went to heaven.
Luke 10:19 God has given me authority & power to trample upon serpents and scorpions and over all the power that the enemy possesses and nothing shall in any way harm me.

Even though I was frightened, I exercised my authority and when I did, something powerful happened. I want to encourage you, not to let the enemy intimate you.  Remember, you as a believer have authority. In Ephesians it says “The enemy and all his schemes are under our feet.” The enemy belongs under our feet, not on top of us.

Can you imagine what our world would be like if we walked in the authority that Jesus gave us? Our world would change.

Let’s commit to exercising that authority in our life everyday.

  1. Thanks for sharing your dream.
You took authority over “the bug” on James’ back (a revolting bad situation) and stopped it from messing with his life. Right on!
