It’s Not Your Fight by Pastor Sam Mata (3min.read)

We all have been in a fight. We have fought for our loved ones, against negative feelings and emotions, like rejection and abandonment, we have fought the enemy’s attacks; we can make a long list, can’t we?
In 2 Chronicles 20, Jehoshaphat was being attacked from all sides. He felt overwhelmed, like many of us may feel at times.

He says in v.12 For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you.”
In the midst of this attack, he remembered the most important thing, to fix his eyes on the Lord.

Hebrews 12:2-3 reminds us to do the same thing “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross…Consider him who endured such opposition from sinful men, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”
Jesus went to the cross for us. We need to recalibrate our faith on that truth daily, not only in good times, but in times of trial. If Jesus went to the cross to remove the most damaging thing held against us, our sins, by shedding his blood, how much more will he defeat the “armies” that come against us? He not only saves us, He fights for us. He never leaves us to fight on our own. We choose at times to take the fight into our own hands, but we don’t need to. Our God is our Mighty Warrior. Remind yourself of that every day. It will give you confidence and strength. Remind yourself that the battle is not yours, but the Lord’s.
2 Chronicles 20: 15, 17 “Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s…You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance of the Lord.”
What great encouragement! Our job is to remember that we are loved and to praise the Lord as He defeats the enemies in our lives.
Verse 20 says “Give thanks to the Lord, for his love endures forever. As they began to sing and praise the Lord, He set ambushes against the enemy and they were defeated.” Let’s look up, fix our eyes on Jesus above the circumstances in our lives, because Our God is bigger and stronger than any enemy. He will never be defeated. He is never the underdog. He always leads us in Victory, 1 Corinthians 15: 57 reminds us “But thanks be to God! He gives us the Victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

God defeated Jehoshaphat’s enemies and he will do the same for you. He actually confused the enemy and they defeated themselves, then Jehoshaphat’s men took three days to collect what belonged to their attackers, picture that (See 2 Chronicles 20: 23). My friend if you are in a fight, just remember, you are loved, you are not alone, praise the Lover of your Soul, Fix your eyes on Him, He is fighting for you, He is your Warrior, the victory is yours. I don’t know about you, but that puts a smile on my face. The fight is not yours, but the Victory sure is!
