Power, Love And A Sound Mind

2 Tim. 1:7 For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and a sound mind.

I’m so grateful that God’s gifts to us does Not include fear. In fact, 1 John 4:18 Perfect love drives out fear.

God is love and gives us perfect love and therefore, there is no place for fear in our lives. Since God did not give us fear, when fear tries to creep up in our lives, we can slam the door on it. We have the authority to say, “No to Fear.” We don’t have to receive fear, because it’s not from God. Pretty simple isn’t it?

I appreciate when I’m reading God’s word and it’s clear and simple. Now implementing it is another story. What I do first is believe God’s Word and accept that it is true for me. Then I reject the lie that I’ve believed prior to the scripture reading and replace that lie with the truth. In this case, it is that fear is not from God, I believe it. What is from God? Power, Love and a Sound Mind. This is my truth and my replacement for that lie. Scripture both changes the atmosphere in a room and in my heart. I guess that’s why the Bible says its sharper than any two edged sword. Believing that God has given me Power, Love and a Sound Mind gives me peace and confidence and reminds me of the authority I have in Christ.

What about you? What truth from scripture has grabbed you lately? What has it done in regards to your daily living?

For me, 2 Tim 1:7 Reminds me that when I am feeling fearful, I can slam the door, renew my mind with the truth that I have power, love and a sound mind. This truth helps me when we are planning for college for my son James or when Robert is taking a test or doing flips off the stage.

This is my prayer for you and me:
Jesus, thank you for your truth that fear doesn’t come from you and you drive out fear with your perfect love. Thank you for power, love and a strong mind. I believe it and receive it and walk in this today. In Jesus mighty name. Amen.

I’d love to hear from you. What scripture are you standing on and walking in today?
